After obtaining her MBBS qualification from Topiwala National Medical College and BYL Nair Charitable Hospital in 1982, Dr Rajan continued her studies with MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Topiwala National Medical College and BYL Nair Charitable Hospital in 1985.

Throughout her career, She has handled many complex cases including leading a high-risk procedure to save a pregnant woman injured in a road accident.

Facing complications from severe limb injuries, Dr Sita Rajan, a Gynaecologist, opted for an emergency preterm C-section as the baby’s heartbeat was low. The baby, delivered within minutes, received neonatal care, while the mother underwent orthopaedic surgery and stabilized successfully. Both mother and baby were later discharged in stable condition

She has contributed significantly to gynaecological research and is an active participant in numerous workshops in her field. Her publications include influential papers, such as one addressing the “Misuse of Caesarean,” where she examines how superstitions surrounding “auspicious” birth dates in India often lead to unnecessary cesarean sections. This poses unique challenges for obstetricians, adding complexity to patient care and decision-making.
