Sciatica is a condition where the sciatic nerve (which runs from your lower back down through the legs) gets compressed or irritated. This usually happens due to a slipped disc, spinal degeneration, or nerve compression at L4, L5, or S1 levels.
Pain in the lower back, buttocks, and legs (usually one side)
Tingling or burning sensation
Numbness or weakness in the leg or foot
Difficulty walking or standing for long
Medicines: For pain relief and nerve inflammation (must be prescribed by a doctor)
Physiotherapy: Stretching and strengthening exercises
Lifestyle changes: Avoid lifting heavy items, use proper sitting posture
Microdiscectomy or Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery
– Needed when pain is severe or not improving with medicines
– Especially effective when MRI shows disc pressing on the nerve
