Hydrocele Treatment Without Surgery

Quick Summary

  • Hydrocele is a condition caused due to fluid accumulation in the scrotum resulting in its swelling
  • The most prevalent treatment is surgery, but there are a variety of other options, such as Ayurvedic treatments, Homoeopathic treatments and Home remedies

Hydrocele is a condition caused due to fluid accumulation in the scrotum resulting in its swelling. The scrotum is the bag of skin that holds the testes. Hydrocele is a widespread condition in males. About one in 10 newborn males is born with this condition, which resolves within the first year of their life, rarely requiring medical attention. However, only one in 100 adults is affected by hydrocele, and it often resolves on its own. Most adults hide the disease and suffer in silence due to embarrassment.

HexaHealth is here to share various ways to treat hydrocele without surgery. First of all, you must understand that hydrocele is just another health condition requiring correct treatment without worrying about it.

The most prevalent treatment is surgery, but that is not the only option. There are a variety of other options, such as:

  1. Ayurvedic treatments
  2. Homoeopathic treatments
  3. Home remedies

Ayurvedic treatments

Ayurvedic treatment is one of the best options for treating hydrocele. There are four medicines widely used to treat hydrocele, namely:

  1. Punarnava is a common medication prescribed by ayurvedic doctors to treat hydrocele. It helps to reduce swelling, pain, and itching and prevents any other complications.
  2. Erand is an antioxidant medicine that helps to relieve symptoms.
  3. Kanchanar is a very widely prescribed medicine to treat pain and inflammation (swelling) of the scrotum.
  4. With its pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties, Varun is the best-chosen medicine to prevent the fluid from getting infected.

Homoeopathic treatments

Homoeopathic treatment is widely preferred by many as it is 100% natural. It offers effective treatments for various diseases. Listed below are the types of hydrocele and the homoeopathic drugs used to treat them:

  1. Hydroceles present in babies since birth – Pulsatilla, Rhododendron and Abrotanum
  2. Right-sided hydroceles – Rhododendron and Clematis
  3. Sharp burning pain in hydroceles – Nux Vomica, Clematis and Berberis Vulgaris
  4. Hydroceles due to injury/trauma – Corneum and Arnica

Home remedies

Home remedies are the most preferred form of treatment for a less complicated form of hydrocele. They help to reduce pain and uneasiness to a great extent. Some of the home remedies are as follows:

  1. Beverages:
    1. Black tea relieves pain and swelling in the hydrocele.
    2. Fresh juices are another excellent beverage option to help keep you hydrated and relieve pain and itching. Fresh juice made with gooseberry (Amla) and aloe vera in equal proportion is one of the best options to alleviate itching and soreness.
  2. Topical medication:
    1. Topical application of a herbal paste made up of black pepper (kali mirchi) and cumin (jeera) paste is very effective in reducing swelling and pain. It is one of the oldest home remedies used in India.
    2. Epsom salt bath /sitz bath is another popular remedy for reducing pain and soreness. To prepare a sitz bath, fill a tub with warm water, add two teaspoons of Epsom salt, and then sit in the tub for 15-20 minutes thrice a week or every other day to drain the fluid of the hydrocele. This procedure also improves blood circulation in that area.
  3. Other remedies like
    1. Wearing a jockstrap for scrotal support helps to reduce the pressure on the scrotal region.
    2. Applying an ice pack or cold compress aids in relieving the pain and soreness.
