Yes! It will take a while to regain strength and endurance after the transplant, but eventually, the patient can resume normal daily activities. Walking and stair climbing are excellent exercises for maintaining muscle tone and strength. The patient should consider walking for about 5 to 10 minutes a day when he/she first arrives home following the surgery and then slowly increase the time each week. Strenuous exercises should be avoided by the patient.
